The English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) is a national charity, dedicated to disabled people in sport and physical activity. Established in September 1998. The EFDS supports a wide range of organisations that work to include disabled people more effectively. In 2016, the EFDS blog is featuring an A-Z of accessible sporting and fitness opportunities available to disabled people.

This week they feature “L” for Lawn Bowls

Lynette, a bowler from Devon, talks about bowls and disabled sport. She talks of her love of sport, and her eagerness to participate, even from a young age. Lynette discovered bowls about 7 years ago and now plays 3 times a week.

Lynette says she views bowls as “a community thing, it brings people together and it gets the best out of everybody.”

Bowlaway have hosted some great bowls tours over the years, and we have nothing but admiration for disabled bowlers, who often bowl exceedingly well, and usually have a great sense of humour!
